About This Coffee

In the mountains of La Concordia, women coffee producers are helping shape the future of specialty coffee while preserving traditions rooted in their communities. Working alongside their families, they manage small organic coffee farms where every stage of cultivation reflects patience, knowledge and a deep commitment to the land. Beyond tending their coffee trees, many play a leading role in harvest planning, quality management and the stewardship of their farms, balancing generations of inherited experience with a shared vision for continuous improvement.

This lot was sourced as part of our Cafe Delas programme. Café Delas was created to help women farmers access the resources, knowledge and voice they need to grow their operations to the fullest potential. Every Café Delas coffee is sourced 100% from women farmers and for every sale, a portion of the profit is reinvested in programs that promote gender equality and empower women in the field.

The Region

The La Concordia region is renowned for producing excellent coffee due to various factors such as: the agroclimatic conditions of the area, altitude, soils, great diversity of natural interactions and ofcourse, the people who through effort and care are able to produce the “Oro Verde” (green gold as it is called).

This region is also well known for it’s dry and rainy seasons, which are very well synchronized with the physiology of the coffee plant. During harvest season, the weather is cold with little rain which helps to extend the fermentation time and drying conditions, and as a consequence, improves the coffee cup quality. Variables such as climate behavior, the endemic vegetation and fauna interaction (large cat species such as jaguar and birds such as quetzal among others) creates a top priority responsibility to enhance sustainable coexistence between coffee productive activities and conservation of this environment.

As a result of this coffee culture and endemic ecosystems interaction, it is possible to offer sustainable and high-end quality coffee to the world.

The Process

Coffee is cultivated under the shade of native trees within a rich and diverse mountain ecosystem, where organic farming practices contribute to maintaining healthy soils and supporting local biodiversity. Throughout the harvest, only ripe cherries are selectively hand-picked before being processed using the traditional washed method. Careful fermentation, washing and slow sun drying allow each lot to develop with consistency while preserving the coffee’s natural sweetness and balance. Every stage reflects the producers’ commitment to delivering coffees that faithfully represent the character of La Concordia and the care invested throughout the growing season.
