About This Coffee

For Duglas del Rosario Molina Corzo, coffee is a family project built on perseverance, care and a genuine passion for farming. Since establishing her farm in 2016, she has worked alongside her husband, Eddy, and their family to cultivate coffee in the highlands of Villa Corzo, where every harvest represents another step in their journey of continuous learning and improvement.

Doña Duglas believes that exceptional coffee begins with attention to detail. From caring for the coffee trees throughout the growing season to carefully selecting only the ripest cherries at harvest, she approaches every stage with patience and purpose. Her dedication is reflected not only in the quality of the coffee, but also in the example she sets for her family and community, demonstrating the important role women continue to play in shaping the future of specialty coffee in Chiapas.

The Region

Located in southern Chiapas, Villa Corzo is surrounded by fertile valleys and the forested slopes of the Sierra Madre mountain range, creating an exceptional setting for coffee cultivation. The region’s volcanic soils, favorable climate and rich biodiversity have supported coffee-growing communities for generations, making agriculture an essential part of local life.

Coffee is deeply connected to the identity of the region, where farming families continue to cultivate the land while preserving the natural resources that sustain it. The combination of dedicated producers, remarkable growing conditions and a strong agricultural tradition makes Villa Corzo an origin that continues to earn recognition for its quality and character.

The Process

The small farmers in this region take an artisan approach to their production, taking their coffee from seed to dry parchment. The coffees are picked ripe, de-pulped and fermented for 12-17 hours. After the fermentation process, the coffee is then washed and sun dried on farmers’ yards or zarandas in order to deliver the best qualities and high-end profiles required.

Nestled along the foothills of the Sierra Madre de Chiapas, Villa Corzo provides an ideal environment for cultivating specialty coffee. Fertile volcanic soils, abundant rainfall and elevations between 1,200 and 1,500 meters above sea level allow cherries to mature gradually, encouraging balanced sweetness and complexity.

At harvest, Duglas and her family carefully hand-pick only ripe cherries before processing the coffee using the traditional washed method. Controlled fermentation, thorough washing and slow drying are carried out with close attention to consistency, preserving the coffee’s clean profile and expressive character. Every lot reflects a thoughtful balance between traditional farming practices and a commitment to continuous quality improvement.
